The Dalai Lama's Land Rover!

I was reporting for magazine & internet publications back in 2005 and received a tip that the Dalai Lama (Yep! The Dalai Lama!) just sent his 1966 Land Rover SIIA 88-inch (RHD) to West Coast British, a Land Rover specialist in California, which was to be restored and later auctioned for charity. I took these photos just after it arrived (prior to restoration) and it started right up! After restoration it sold for $82K US on eBay - with some additional prizes and trips included for the new owner. For instance, the winning bidder was a featured guest at an after auction event hosted by actress Sharon Stone in San Francisco, California - AND they were also flown to India for an exclusive meeting with the Dalai Lama, which included a 3-day teaching session.
